Northland Inn converts to Marriott

The Northland Inn on Thursday officially changed its name to Minneapolis Marriott Northwest, following a recently completed $24 million renovation. The 231-room hotel has been independent since it opened at the intersection of interstates 94 and 694 and Boone Avenue in 1989. It was bought out of foreclosure in October 2010 for $4.5 million by an institutional investment fund advised by Boston-based Long Wharf Real Estate Partners.
